"Home Sweet Home" Pocket Page Mini Album

Thursday, 14 September 2017

Y'all, I kind of can't remember the last time I was this excited about a project! Lately I've been experiencing the scrapbooking blahs. Just not really excited to work on anything, dragging myself up to my craft room to work on assignments. That whole thing. Well it's over now and totally thanks to this little mini!!

I wrote more about it over one the Elle's Studio blog if you wanted to take a look. I also filmed a process video around setting this mini up and starting the embellishing. I used only the new Family Fun collection to put this together.

Here are the still photos if you're interested!

"Date Night" Memory Traveler's Notebook

Sunday, 10 September 2017

Slowly but surely I'm working to finish up Vol. 01 of my 2017 Memory Notebook. There's just a few spreads left! I checked one off the list using Elle's Studio September 2017 kit and extras.
This month's stamp set is Date Night themed. Date night is a big thing in our house. Every Friday we make sure to have one. I have loads of photos of us during date night so I'm sure I'll be using this stamp over and over again!
I pulled two cards from the monthly kit because I thought the colors and patterns would work well with these photos. It was a funny coincidence that I printed these out weeks ago and the colors (especially that orange behind the text) worked so well with the products!

I was also really cheeky and used a "date" die cut as a flag on my page. I know technically it's meant to be the day of the event. But it totally works for date night as well!
Since this is a notebook, I tried to add flat embellishments. The Wood Veneer Border and Autumn Sequins are very flat. The Acrylic Button not so much...but it's fine! This is towards the end of the book anyway.
If you'd like to see what else I've created using this month's kit and extras head to the main post on this release!

"Light up my Life" Scrapbook Layout

Hiya! I'm excited to share an honest to goodness 12x12 scrapbook layout! I feel like it's been so long since I've created one of these. But this photo needed a special page all its own! I love this pile up of my nephew, boyfriend, dog and nephew's dog. Chaos ensues when my nephew is here and I think this photo captures that! I printed it out at 5x7.
I don't often use brown in my scrapbooks. It's my least favorite color. But the woodgrain went so well with the photo and the neutral color helped all of the awesome colorful products pop! It's from the Live Laugh Love Paper Collection.
I used Elle's Studio September 2017 monthly kit and extras for this page. I loved the bright happy colors of the journaling tags and wanted to get as many as I could on the page. I also thought it was fun that the yellow in the kit matched the lamp shade in the photo so well!

To mimic how they were stacked up on top of each other in the photo, I stacked my journaling tags up on the side.
I threw the "Favorite" acrylic word on here because this was my favorite photo from the day. Although, I think "Light up my Life" (from the Date Night Stamp Set) is a better title for the page. Even though it's less dominant and very small on this page.
I embellished with the Acrylic Buttons (my favorite of the extras!) and Autumn Sequins plus just a few die cuts from the kit. With all of the energy the photo and the colors I didn't want to overwhelm the page. And this goes in line with the latest The Awesome Ladies project trend watch of adding embellishments along the seam.

2017 Scrapbook Album Flip-Thru

Sunday, 13 August 2017

Hi there! Recently in the Simple Scrapper Facebook Group, we were chatting about layouts that aren't currently in albums. I have a ton. If you follow me on Instagram, you might have seen my Insta stories about where they currently reside.

I made some headway with this project last weekend. I sorted out all of the 2017 projects and put them in their own album. Finally! An album to hold in my hands. This weekend, I shot a flip thru of the album. Here's me taking you through it and chatting along the way!

Star Veneer Birthday Card

Friday, 11 August 2017

Elle gets me every time with her awesome use of color! I had so much pairing a navy, blue, green, lime and orange color scheme with an awesomely neutral Wood Veneer Pocket Filler card. On the blog today, I'm sharing this card, Jill's sharing a layout and Laura a few pocket page filler cards using the veneer. "By the Numbers" Pocket Page

Thursday, 10 August 2017

Y'all! This page....has my heart! I love how it turned out! I snuck a shot of this on my Instagram when the Stanley Number Stamp launched. Originally it was a 12x12 layout that I was struggling to find a place to put my photo on. It's not often that I do that, start with the design and then add the photo. But since I wanted the stats to be the focus, that's how it happened.

When I went to finish it, I just couldn't find a place where I liked the photo placement. So I decided to turn this into a two page spread. Originally, I printed a 12x12 photo to pair beside it. But that didn't look right either! And then I struck on an idea...what if I trimmed the 12x12 to 9x12 and paired it with a 9x12 pocket? Problem solved!

As I mentioned, I wanted the stats to be the focus. I used the Stanley Alphabet Stamp-Solid and Stanley Number Stamp to add that all in. This stripped paper from the Live Laugh Love Paper Collection is the perfect size for those stamps!!

The die cuts were odds and ends from my ES stash. And I used the Live Laugh Love Enamel Dots & Wood Veneer. Plus a Cork Tag from the July release.

For the pocket page, I went really simple: a black and white photo from each year back to 2009 and one of the awesome Wood Veneer Pocket Fillers available this month. Since this was a numbers themed page, I stamped directly onto the wood using the Stanley Numbers Stamp, which includes both the solid and the outline! I even stitched a die cut from the August Monthly Kit, to the bottom of the card, then added a few pieces from the So Awesome Puffy Sticker sheet and one small heart from this months Heart Circle Acrylics.

I love mixing color with black and white. So this spread makes me really happy!

"Shake Shack" Memory Traveler's Notebook

I'm so behind on the decorating part of my 2017 Memory Notebook! But at least I'm caught up on the writing side, which honestly is the harder part. This is my Week 20 spread. I made it within an hour of receiving my August Elle's Studio box! It was just so fun and also slightly food themed, which is perfect since this week was about my first visit to Shake Shack here in Houston.

I used the August Monthly Kit, So Awesome Puffy Stickers, Yes to This Stamp, Sky Blue Puffy Alphabet Stickers, Dated Stamp and Live Laugh Love 12x12 Paper Collection. That's a lot for one little page!

It was a lot of layering using the 3x4 journaling cards in the kit plus the die cuts and puffy stickers. I love that Elle's products are sized small enough for Traveler's Notebooks as well as pocket pages and scrapbook layouts!
