Memory Notebook-Week 00, 01 & 02
Lately, I've been working on something that has me completely excited! Traveler's Notebooks, have you heard of them? (This is a wee joke) You'd have to be living under a rock to not notice them in the paper community. I've been aware of and also dabbled in the Traveler's Notebook arena myself. I've created a few of my own notebooks to take notes, keep lists and make checklists. But I'd never even considered using them as an actual memory keeping tool. Until Sunday when I decide to go for it. I'll blame it on my friend Andrea aka Retrohipmama and her awesome creations!
O.M.G....I completely love it! After just an hour or so of playing in it I realized how important this is going to be for me this year. I'm so excited to share my first pages with y'all!
I created the book myself, using this printable I found on Etsy. I did a bit of researching before picking this design, looking at the hashtag #midoritravelersnotebook on Instagram to see what I was most attracted to. I really loved the look of Kerri Bradford's and Elise's notebooks. But I also really liked seeing the journaling on one page and then a design on the facing page. Which is why I went for that printable.
This whole project really feels a need for me. You see, for about six months I was a really avid bullet journaler. I had so much fun with my bujo! But the upkeep was too much so I decided to switch to printable checklists and other digital solutions. I found myself really missing the part where I was writing down a few lines about my day. This new projects helps me do that!
I've also been thinking a lot about creative play. And this tiny size is definitely playful. For some reason it doesn't feel as time consuming. Also, I just really like tiny things!
So on Sunday afternoon, I set out to make my own notebook. I used this tutorial from YouTube to figure out the saddle stitch binding. Turns out, it was really easy to do! I had all my pages assembled, then it was time to write. I did pretty good remembering a few things we had done each day back to Jan 01. I couldn't remember two days in the middle there but that just become a home for more decoration.
Speaking of decoration, I had no idea what I would do on the right hand side, but I knew Andrea's pages were amazing. So I just started playing! I created Week 2's spread first and then worked backwards from there.
Y'all, this was so much fun for me. I can't even explain it! In just a few hours I got 2 weeks worth done. I figure if I sit down in 2 more weeks there's the first month done. And since this idea is still novel to me, I don't foresee myself getting bored too quickly. In fact, I'm itching to write today's entry so I can get started on next week! I just started the category of Traveler's Notebook so you'll be able to see all of these entries grouped together. I've also dubbed Thursday the day for sharing my Traveler's Notebook page. Watch out for the #jlmemorynotebook hashtag on instagram.
Cheers & Besos,
